*The 2026 Small Grants Program is currently closed, please check back for information on the next round in early 2027*
When funds are available, the UCSRB will award small grants to support innovative programs and activities that advance salmon recovery in the Upper Columbia region.
The grant cycle runs annually from January 1 through December 31. Additional funding opportunities may become available throughout the year and will be advertised by UCSRB as they arise.
Eligibility
Applicants and projects must be located within Chelan, Douglas, or Okanogan counties. Proposed work must clearly support new, current, or ongoing salmon recovery efforts within the Upper Columbia region. Only one discretionary grant will be awarded per applicant per grant round.
Eligible project types include:
- Habitat Recovery
- Monitoring
- Maintenance and Stewardship
- Adaptive Management
- Outreach
*Entities with existing UCSRB outreach contracts (separate from small grants) are not eligible to apply for additional outreach funding but may apply for non-outreach activities.
Terms of the Grant
Unless otherwise stated, funding requests cannot exceed $10,000. All grant agreements will be paid through reimbursement. Invoices must either be submitted on a monthly basis or upon completion of the project.
Funds must be expended within the agreed timeframe – generally the calendar year unless otherwise noted. Funds cannot be used for reimbursement of activities preceding the award date.
The following expenses are not reimbursable:
- Travel, lodging, meals, and associated incidentals
- Meeting or field trip-related beverages and snacks
- Conference fees and other training expenses
If a change to the grant agreement is required, an amendment request must be submitted in writing to the UCSRB Executive Director for review and approval. Amendments cannot be requested within the last four weeks of the contract.
A formal one-to-two-page report summarizing the completed activities is required within 30 days of the grant close-out date.
