In much the same way that people live in neighborhoods, towns, and cities, salmon live in watersheds. And like all of the farms, factories, stores, houses, hospitals, schools, parks, playgrounds, streets, and general infrastructure that we rely on, healthy functioning forests, cold and clean water, places to hide from high flows and rest while foraging, shade and cover, pools, and other habitat features are critical to juvenile and adult salmon. This new infographic (available here as a full-resolution PDF) shows some of the many types of restoration activities that our partners undertake to ensure that salmon “cities” provide all of the habitats necessary for healthy, abundant populations of salmon and steelhead.
