Conference Location

The 2018 Upper Columbia Science Conference will be held at the Wenatchee Convention Center, in downtown Wenatchee, WA. The Convention Center is conveniently located withing walking distance of downtown restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and other amenities. Conference organizers have reserved a number of small meeting rooms at the Center for use by attendees for break-out sessions. There will be facilities at the conference center to use if you are a nursing mother (private room and refrigerator).

 

 

Lodging

The most convenient lodging for the conference is at the Coast Hotel across the street from the Convention Center. Call (509) 662-1234 to make a reservation. Unfortunately the room bock we reserved expired earlier this month.

Coast Wenatchee Center Hotel- We have reserved a room block (“Upper Columbia Science Conference”) at the Coast Hotel at the government rate of $93/night. The room block will be open until January 22nd and fills up fast so make your reservation ASAP.

Red Lion Hotel- We also have a room block at the Red Lion for $93/night. This hotel is approximately 1 miles from the Convention Center.

Travel to and around Wenatchee

Located in the center of the state, Wenatchee is a short trip from nearly anywhere in the northwest. The Coast Hotel and Convention Center are 0.6 miles from the Amtrak station and 4 miles from Pangborn Memorial Airport. Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air has multiple flights daily between Wenatchee and Seattle/Tacoma International Airport. The Coast Hotel offers free shuttle service to and from the airport. The Wenatchee Valley Shuttle offers multiple rides daily between Wenatchee and Seattle.

Driving Directions:

From the North: Travel south on Highway 97 or 97A until you arrive in Wenatchee.

From the South: Travel north on 1-82 to Ellensburg, then follow Highway 97 to Wenatchee; or go through Vantage on 1-90 and connect to Hwy 281, then 28 at Quincy, and continue westward to Wenatchee.

From the East: Travel west on Highways 2 or 28 to Wenatchee; or take 1-90 west ti Highway 281, connect to Highway 28 at Quincy, then continue westward to Wenatchee.

From the West: Travel east on Highway 2 until you arrive in Wenatchee; or take 1-90 to Cle Elum, then exit onto Highway 97 to Wenatchee.

Activities

Mission Ridge:

Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort, only 12 miles from downtown Wenatchee, is offering discounted lift tickets and rentals to conference attendees and their families for Friday, January 29th! Lift tickets are $35 (regularly $55) and rentals are $20 (regularly $35). Ski Leavenworth:

For those interested in Nordic skiing, the Leavenworth Ski hill is 23 miles from downtown Wenatchee. Visit the Ski Hill website at Ski Leavenworth.
