Doug England grew up working on the family orchard overlooking Lake Chelan. When he was a teenager, his father was critically injured while fighting a forest fire above Wenatchee. Doug and his brothers and sisters worked together to save the family orchard planted by his great grandfather. He and his wife, Jama, are now enjoying watching their children raise the 6th generation of family to grow up in the valley. They earned their degrees from Washington State University. Doug then went on to earn his Masters Degree. After fulfilling a military obligation in the army, they settled into the Lake Chelan Valley 36 years ago.
Doug has managed a fruit cooperative, Manson Growers, for over 30 years. Through good crops and bad, he has made difficult decisions that affected the livelihood of both employees and growers. He has balanced multi-million dollar budgets. For many years he has been involved in board and volunteer efforts both locally in the community and statewide in the apple industry. He has served for a number of terms as a director of the Washington State Horticulture Association, and is currently President of the Northwest Wholesale Board in Wenatchee. He was a member of the first class of EMTs in the Chelan Valley and served for 20 years. Doug and his extended family loved to enjoy the natural resources throughout the county, extending into the beautiful high Cascades
